February Newsletter

Hi everyone,

By now everybody is getting back to their usual weekly routine, kids are back to school and the holidays are over. What a great summer we have had so far. We hope the weather will stay warm for a little longer, we are not quite ready for winter yet!

Boot Camp Christchurch

Bruna and Tatiana spent Waitangi weekend at a Grooming boot camp with two of the best Australians groomers and around 20 other New Zealand groomers.  The outcome was very positive as they learnt a great deal and had a lot of compliments and positive feedback from the other International groomers.

They both practiced and learnt a new style and trend of clipping called the ‘Japanese Clip”  if you would like to try this style on your Poodle, Bichon, Yorkshire or find out some more information about it let us know on your next visit to ShowDogs. They also attended a seminar on terriers providing lots of useful information and tips. Tatiana groomed a Scottish Terrier and Bruna did a Schnauzer.

We are very pleased to announce that both Bruna and Tatiana sat their master paper exam on the gundogs and have successfully pass. Well done to them!

We have recently heard from our local vet that there is a few cases of Parvo going around. We would like to make sure that all our client’s pooches are upto date with this vaccine to prevent further cases. Normally the parvo vaccination is done every 3 years, if you are not sure please call you vet to check.

Canine parvovirus

Canine parvovirus is a severe viral infection which causes depression and a sudden onset of profuse smelly bloody diarrhoea, vomiting and fever. This can lead to severe dehydration and death. Vaccinating your dog is the best way to prevent canine parvovirus infection.

Vaccination will help protect your dog against this serious infectious disease that can kill very quickly. The vaccine stimulates the dog’s immune system to produce antibodies against parvovirus.
